Captain (retired) Edmund Howard Neville Harvey, O.B.E. (2 March, 1895 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Edmund J. Harvey, a land and lottery agent.
Harvey was admitted to Chatham Hospital on 11 July 1912 just as his time in the Training Establishment was drawing short. He was placed on sick leave as his illness proved protracted, and a bacteriological study was performed. He was declared fit on 9 October, 1912, having been appointed to the central battery ironclad Hercules on 15 September.[1]
Harvey's second ship was King George V, appointed 7 March 1913. It was in this appointment that he went to war. On 25 May 1915 he was appointed to Carysfort, effective upon her commissioning. He served in her through the end of the war, being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with adjusted seniority of 15 June, 1916.[2]
Harvey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 June, 1924.[3]
Harvey was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1929.[4]
World War II
Harvey was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Captain on 2 March, 1945. He reverted to the Retired List on 10 April, 1948.[5]
