Captain (retired) Stuart Elton Holder (12 February, 1884 – 18 July, 1951) was an officer in the Royal Navy. His first name is sometimes offered as Stewart.[1]
Life & Career
Born in Tiverton, Devon. His father was a Captain in the King's Hussars, but died some time after Stuart entered the Navy.
Holder was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1905.
Holder was appointed in command of the destroyer Flirt on 8 November, 1912.[2]
Holder was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1913.
Holder was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1918.
Post-War
Holder was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain on 12 February, 1930.
World War II
Among other appointments, Holder served as Captain of Arbella and as R.N.O., Boston vice Humphreys from 15 February, 1944 to August, 1945.
