Captain (retired) James Buller Kitson, D.S.O. (24 December, 1883 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Kitson served in Magnificent from 1 August 1902 to at least mid-1905.
Kitson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1905.
Kitson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1913.
Early in the war, he served in Lord Nelson and moved to the battleship Marlborough, where he would serve as signal officer for Vice-Admiral Cecil Burney on 19 December, 1914.
Kitson was awarded a D.S.O. for the his service aboard the battleship at Battle of Jutland, where she was hit by a torpedo.
Kitson left Marlborough on 26 December 1916 and was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1916. He went to work at the Devonport Signal School, switching to the Portsmouth Signal School in mid-March 1917. He stayed there through May 1919.
After some service aboard Carnarvon and Thunderer from 1921 to April 1923, Kitson was retired at his own request on 10 November, 1925 and was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 24 December, 1928.
