Lieutenant-Commander Arthur Geoffrey Napier Lane, R.N. (30 June, 1883 – 8 November, 1918) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of C. Pelham Lane, Esq..
Lane was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 December, 1904.
Lane was tried by a Court Martial on 27 March 1912 for having willfully disobeyed an order to limit his wine bill in Lord Nelson. He lost three months' seniority, was severely reprimanded and was dismissed the ship.
Lane was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 December, 1912.
On 11 November 1913, he was arrested on board London for contempt in connection with non-appearance in a (civil?) debt case.
Lane was again subjected to a Court Martial, 22 May 1918 for having willfully disobeyed an order to limit his wine bill in the depot ship Assistance. He was severely reprimanded and was to be dismissed the ship, but his Service Record does not show his appointment ending before he died of pneumonia in Birmingham Hospital on 8 November, where he had been admitted on 30 September.
