Gunner Donald MacDonald, R.N. (13 November, 1876 – 9 August, 1917) served in the Royal Navy.

There was a Royal Naval Reserve officer by the same name.

Life & Career

A resident of Stornoway, Scotland.

MacDonald was granted the acting rank of Gunner on 15 May, 1903 and confirmed in the rank on 21 July, 1904.

MacDonald was appointed in command of the tender Biter from 1 July 1913 through 24 November, 1913.

MacDonald was appointed to the "R" Class destroyer H.M.S. Recruit for torpedo duties on 14 June, 1917. He died when she was mined and sunk in the North Sea on 9 August, 1917.[1]
