Captain (retired) Leonard Wykeham Patch, R.N. (31 March, 1878 – 8 December, 1951) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Torquay, the son of Reverend H. Patch.
Patch was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1901.
Patch grounded Zebra in 1908, revealing what was described as "remarkable carelessness."
Patch was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1909.
Patch was appointed in command of the destroyer Sylvia on 17 June, 1909.[1]
Retired at his own request on 8 April, 1912.
Patch was granted the acting rank of Commander on 19 September, 1917.
Patch was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 31 March, 1918.
He was appointed in command of the monitor M.20 in January, 1919.[2]
Patch was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 31 March, 1923.
