Rear-Admiral Leonard Fosbrooke Potter, (6 August, 1885 – 18 September, 1942) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of H. R. Potter, Esq., J.P. was born in Lyonsdown, East Barnet.
Potter was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1906.
In 1908, the Admiralty thanked him for preparing a survey of Swanage Harbour.
Potter was one of the few men who served throughout the Great War in the same ship, having been appointed to the dreadnought Monarch as Lieutenant (T) on 3 January, 1914.
Potter was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1914.
Potter finally left Monarch when he was was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1918.
Potter was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June 1925.
Potter was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 15 July, 1936 and placed on the Retired List the next day.
World War II
Shore-based duties. Potter died of bladder cancer on 18 September, 1942.
