Captain Oliver Schwann, C.B., R.N. (18 November, 1878 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Schwann was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1899.
Schwann was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1909.
Schwann was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1914.
On 8 February, 1916 Schwann was in a tethered balloon attacked to Campania in Scapa Flow when the cable snapped. Temporary Lieutenant R.N.V.R. Reginald Argyle Davey drowned while saving Schwann's life.
Schwann altered his last name to "Swann" by Deed Poll on 1 January, 1917.
