Captain R.N.R. Reginald Arthur Woodward, R.D. (30 August, 1880 – 6 June, 1939) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Woodward spoke French fairly well.

Woodward was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 22 September, 1908.[1]

Woodward was appointed to the River Class destroyer Exe from 13 June through 24 July, 1916. Commander Alan Montagu Yeats-Brown noted that Woodward served him "to [his] entire satisfaction" and that he "should make a good destroyer Captain."

Accordingly, Woodward was appointed in command of Locust after being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 22 September, 1916.[2]

Shortly after leaving command of Locust, and having been recommended for a larger command, Woodward was appointed in command of Ure and then promoted to the rank of Acting Commander R.N.R., with seniority of 30 June, 1917.[3]

Woodward was appointed in command of the patrol boat P59 on 26 September, 1917.[4]

Mentioned in despatches on 13 June, 1918.

Woodward was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 31 December, 1918.[5]

Woodward was promoted to the rank of Captain R.N.R. (retired) on 30 June, 1926.[6]
