Life & Career

Woodward spoke French fairly well.

Woodward was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 22 September, 1908.[1]

Accordingly, Woodward was appointed in command of Locust after being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 22 September, 1916.[2]

Shortly after leaving command of Locust, and having been recommended for a larger command, Woodward was appointed in command of Ure and then promoted to the rank of Acting Commander R.N.R., with seniority of 30 June, 1917.[3]

Woodward was appointed in command of the patrol boat P59 on 26 September, 1917.[4]

Mentioned in despatches on 13 June, 1918.

Woodward was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 31 December, 1918.[5]
