Admiral SIR Thomas Sturges Jackson, K.C.V.O., Royal Navy (6 March, 1842 – 9 September, 1934) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Early Life & Career
Jackson served in 1858 as Aide-de-Camp to Captain Hall at the capture of Chinese river forts, and was engaged in the capture of Canton and subsequent operations.
Jackson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 22 March, 1864.
Jackson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 1 November, 1873.[1]
He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 14 October, 1881.[2]
He was appointed command of Colossus on 9 May, 1890.[3]
Flag Rank
Jackson was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 20 October, 1896, vice Stewart.[4] On 7 July, 1899, he was appointed Admiral Superintendent of Devonport Dockyard.[5]
He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 24 January, 1902, vice Fane.[6]
On 14 March, 1902, he was appointed a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.).[7]
He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 5 July, 1905, vice Brackenbury.[8] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, he was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 22 July.[9]
