Commander (retired) John Graeme Hay Steedman, R.N. (20 June, 1893 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Steedman passed out of Royal Naval College, Dartmouth in April, 1910 tied for 48th in rank of 77 cadets in marks on the Part I examination.[1]
Steedman was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 March, 1916.
Steedman was appointed in command of the submarine H 32 on 17 March, 1920.[2]
Steedman was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 March, 1924.
Steedman was lent to the R.A.F. for a short flying course on 10 August, 1925.
Placed on the Retired List at his own request on 1 April, 1931, Steedman was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 20 June, 1933.
World War II
In December, 1939, appointed to the staff of the Flag Officer in Charge, Clyde. This eventually altered to Glasgow, where he was the Assistant Shipyard Liaison Officer. This work continued through the end of the war.
