Captain Gerald Edward Colpoys, R.N., Retired (21 December, 1893 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of William Colpoys, Esq., who was an insurance broker.

Colpoys was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 December, 1915.

Post-War

Colpoys was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 December, 1923.

Colpoys was appointed in command of Oberon on 27 March, 1928. He was re-appointed in her when he was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1928. He left when he was appointed in command of H.M.S. Ross and for command of the Experimental Half-Flotilla and for Class I duty with submarines. He was superseded on 1 January, 1931 and went to attend a Staff Coiurse at the Royal Navy Staff College, Greenwich.

Colpoys was appointed in command of Osiris on 27 February, 1932, vice Macintyre. He was superseded in command on 16 September, 1932.

World War II

Colpoys was placed on the Retired List on account of age with the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1943.
