Admiral SIR James Edward Clifford Goodrich, K.C.V.O. Royal Navy (23 July, 1851 – 21 December, 1925) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Goodrich was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 3 September, 1872.[1]

Goodrich was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1888.[2] On 19 November, 1890, he was appointed Commander of the Victor Emanuel, receiving ship at Hong Kong.[3]

Captain

Goodrich was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1 January, 1895.[4]

He was appointed in command of the third class protected cruiser Pearl on 30 September, 1897.[5]

Goodrich was appointed to command the battleship Resolution on 17 November, 1901.[6]

He was appointed to the Duke of Wellington, dated 27 May, 1902, for the London, to date 7 June.[7]

On the occasion of the King's visit to Malta Goodrich was appointed a Member of the Fourth Class of the Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) on 27 April, 1903.[8]

On 15 October 1903, he was appointed to the first class protected cruiser Grafton as Commodore, Second Class, as Commodore Commanding the Pacific Station, and assumed command on 21 December.[9]

Goodrich was to leave Esquimalt for Acapulco on 25 January, 1904.[10]

Goodrich was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 October, 1905.[11]

On the occasion of the King's birthday he was appointed a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) on 26 June, 1908.[12]

Goodrich was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 30 April, 1910, vice Poë.[13]

He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 3 June, 1913, vice Neville,[14] and, in accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, was placed on the Retired List on 4 June.[15]
