SIR Arthur William Johns, K.C.B., C.B.E. (1873 – 13 January, 1937) was a constructor for the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Johns worked from age 14 as a shipwright apprentice at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
After working on the design of the King Edward VII class battleships, he was made a Constructor in 1911. Johns was responsible for the design of many of the Royal Navy's submarines used in the war.
In 1916, he designed airships.
