Vice-Admiral SIR John Augustine Edgell, K.B.E., C.B., R.N. (Retired) (20 December, 1880 – 14 November, 1962) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career
Edgell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 March, 1903.[1]
Edgell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 March, 1911.
He was appointed in command of Mutine on 20 January 1912.[2]
Edgell was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1915.
Post-World War I
Edgell was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1923.
He served as Hydrographer of the Navy from 1932 till his retirement from the appointment in 1945.[3]
Edgell was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 3 March, 1935.
Edgell was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 29 November, 1938 and placed on the Retired List the following day.
