Captain (retired) Frederick John Crosby Halahan, D.S.C. (21 June, 1900 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of S. C. Halahan, Esq., gentleman passed out of the Training Establishment on 15 July 1916 and was appointed to the battleship Marlborough, which had recently been torpedoed at the Battle of Jutland. He served in her through 27 February 1919 when he was appointed to Dolphin for instruction in submarines. By a quirk of history, his first submarine was the interned German U 126, in which he spent a eighteen days in June. In late June, he was appointed to R 4, where he remained through 10 October.[1]
Halahan was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 June, 1920.[2]
Halahan was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 June, 1928.[3]
Halahan was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1938.[4]
World War II
Halahan was granted the War Service Rank of Captain when he was placed on the Retired List on account of age on 21 June, 1950.[5]
