Captain Edward Oliver Gladstone (28 April, 1875 – 23 December, 1925) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
In February 1897, Gladstone was mentioned in despatches for the Benin Expedition and was specially promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 25 May, 1897 for services in same.[1]
Gladstone was appointed in command of the destroyer Desperate on 28 September 1901 but was lent to T.B. 93 on 14 October, 1901.[2]
By 1902, he was being noted as an "excellent destroyer captain."[3]
Gladstone was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1908.[4]
Gladstone was appointed in command of the scout cruiser Adventure on 2 April, 1914.[5]
Great War
Gladstone was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1915.[6]
On 30 January, 1917, he was admitted to a hospital ship for three days before being discharged to duty.[7]
Gladstone was placed on the Retired List on 2 November, 1922. He died at age 50 at a nursing home in London on 23 December, 1925 following surgery.[8]
