H.M.S. Griffin was one of thirty-five "G","H" and "I" Class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Griffin collided with one of her tugs as she left Barrow-in-Furness under tow to trials on 5 January, 1936. The damage was slight, and repairs were to take less than a week.[4]

Commissioned on 6 March, 1936 for service with the First Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean.[5]

On 20 March 1943, Griffin was transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy and was renamed H.M.C.S. Ottawa.

Ottawa was decommissioned on 31 October 1945 and scrapped early the next year.
