Commander (retired) Reginald Robert Helbert, (12 May, 1898 – 19 April, 1945) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of a Lieutenant-Colonel who was a staff officer of the Union of South Africa, Helbert was a special entry to the Navy in mid-September 1916. He served in Revenge from March 1917 through the end of the war.[1]
Helbert was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1920.[2]
Helbert was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1928.[3]
World War II
Extensive work with submarines.
Helbert was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander on 12 May 1943. He died in an aircraft accident in April, 1945.
