Commander (retired) Francis George Brodribb, O.B.E. (8 September, 1890 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Brodribb was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 May, 1911. In February 1912 he received the Italian Medal for his assistance in the Messina Earthquake of December, 1908. He was made a Flying Officer on 13 August, 1913.[1]
On 31 October, 1914 while on the books of Grain Island Air Station, he broke his femur when the seaplane carrier H.M.S. Hermes was torpedoed and lost. He was sent to The Royal Naval Infirmary at Deal. He was admitted King Edward VII Hospital 13 May, 1915. He was found fit for shore service on 22 October, 1915 but was again admitted to King Edward VII Hospital 19 November, 1915. He was fit for shore service on 18 April, 1916.[2]
Brodribb was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 May, 1919. He was placed on the Retired List as medically unfit on 21 January, 1920.[3]
Brodribb was promoted to the rank of Commander on 8 September, 1930.[4]
