Lieutenant-Commander (retired) Alfred James Brewster (1 January, 1884 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Brewster was appointed to the submarine A 13 on 21 October, 1914, possibly in command, but most likely this is a quirk of the Navy List.[1]

He served in C 35 from 18 September 1915 to 19 December, 1916 and then in J 1 until 27 June 1917, being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1917.[2]

Brewster spent three months serving in submarines attached to Arrogant before being given his only unambiguous command, of C 5, from 30 September 1917 through 1 September, 1918.[3]

He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 10 October, 1920.[4]

Brewster was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1925.[5]
