U.S.S. Texas was one of three New York class dreadnoughts completed for the U.S. Navy.

She commissioned on 12 March, 1914 with Captain Albert W. Grant in command.

Service

By virtue of her service in the Sixth Battle Squadron in 1917-18, Texas is one of two survivors of the Grand Fleet, the other being the cruiser Caroline.
