Captain (retired) Herbert Arthur Cambridge Lane, (28 April, 1893 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Lane was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1914.

Lane was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 October, 1922.

An appointment to command Tancred in the 1924 Reserve Fleet Exercises, dated 10 July, 1924[1] was cancelled. Lt. Cdr. Hugh Merriman Barnes would take the destroyer to the exercises in his place.

Lane was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1927.

World War II

Lane was placed on the Retired List on account of age with the rank of Captain on 28 April, 1943.

He was deemed unfit for further naval service on 24 June, 1946.
