Captain Francis John Butler, M.B.E. (21 September, 1899 – 20 January, 1953) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Butler's father, an Army officer, was deceased by the time he joined the service. He named his mother as his guardian.[1]
Butler was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1919.[2]
Butler was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1927.[3]
Butler was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1933.[4]
World War II
Butler was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1941.[5]
He was placed on the Retired List on 8 January, 1951 and presently underwent radon treatment for his mouth and tongue. He would die two years later of carcinoma of the glands of his neck.[6]
