Admiral John Philip Rolleston, D.S.O., Royal Navy, Retired (10 April, 1859 – 12 December, 1936) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Rolleston was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 29 June, 1883.[1]
Captain
Rolleston was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1903.[2]
In ,January 1905 he assumed command of the second class protected cruiser Arrogant, remaining with her until June 1906.[3]
He served as captain of the battleship Hannibal from October 1906 until August of 1908.[4]
He was appointed in command of the battleship Repulse and for command of a Battleship Division in Special Reserve at Devonport on 11 August, 1908.[5]
Flag Rank
Rolleston was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 13 December, 1913, vice Sturdee.[6] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, he was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 7 March, 1914.[7]
He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 9 January, 1919,[8] and was advanced to Admiral on the Retired List on 3 March, 1924.[9]
