Vice-Admiral (retired) Henry Leah (13 July, 1850 – 26 June, 1926) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Leah was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 8 April, 1873.
Leah was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 12 on 16 June, 1884, for manoeuvres.[1]
Leah was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1887.
Leah was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1894.
His time in command of Mildura was clouded by a reprimand issued in the wake of a 13 November 1897 Court Martial for stranding and hazarding her, and by a kerfuffle for his awarding abnormally high prize payments in a 1900 rifle competition without having inquired as to whether it had been properly carried out.
Leah was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Diadem in November, 1900.
Leah was placed on the Retired List on account of age on 13 May, 1905. He was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral (retired) on 22 July, 1905 and then to the rank of Vice-Admiral (retired) on 30 April, 1910.
Leah died on the Lawn at Chudleigh on 26 June, 1926. His wife died two days later.
