Commander (retired) Spencer Francis Russell, O.B.E., R.N. (28 December, 1884 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born on Malta the son of a Colonel.
Russell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in December, 1906.
Russell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in December, 1914.
Russell was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 7 April, 1927.
Russell commanded the destroyer Munster at the Battle of Jutland.[1]
Russell was appointed in command of the destroyer Minion on 12 May, 1918.[2]
Russell's command of Minion ended when he was appointed to Egmont, additional, to provide Special Service on the Danube on 26 March, 1919.
