Admiral Max Kennedy Horton, G.C.B., D.S.O, R.N. (29 November, 1893 – 30 July, 1951) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Horton was appointed in command of the submarine D 6 on 31 August, 1912.[1]
He was appointed in command of the submarine E 9 on 11 March, 1914.[2]
Great War
In E9, Horton torpedoed the German aviso S.M.S. Hela six miles from Heligoland on 13 September, 1914 with two hits amidships. In October, he sank the German torpedo boat S 116 near the mouth of the Ems.
Horton was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1914.
Post-war
In March, 1922, he was appointed in command of the light cruiser Conquest.
