H.M.S. Penguin was one of five Osprey Class composite screw sloops completed for the Royal Navy.
Service
Commissioned at Sheerness on 14 January, 1890 for surveying work.[4]
Described as a "late screw survey vessel", Penguin was serving as a depot and receiving ship at Sydney in 1911.[5]
