H.M.S. Glowworm was one of twelve Insect class gunboats built for the Royal Navy.

Service

Glowworm was part of the Archangel River Expeditionary Force and received heavy damage and loss of life, including her captain, Lt. Cdr. Sebald Walter Bluett Green, when an ammunition barge blew uop alongside her on the night of 23 August, 1919. She arrived at Sheerness in November and was to proceed to Chatham to be paid off and refitted.[6]

Glowworm was re-commissioned at Chatham on 23 March, 1920 and became the flagship of the Danube Flotilla.[7]

She re-commissioned at Galatz on 23 April, 1924.[8]

The gunboat paid off into Reserve at Malta on 14 September, 1925.[9]
