Captain (retired) John Noel Pelly, C.B.E. (15 June, 1888 – 6 June, 1945) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Stanstead, Herts.

Pelly was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1910.

Pelly served in the first class protected cruiser Gibraltar from 28 January, 1913 until being assigned to the new battleship Queen Elizabeth on 22 November 1914. He was temporarily appointed to Iron Duke from 21 January to 1 April, 1917 and then to Ramillies.

Pelly was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1918 and remained in Ramillies until 4 February, 1919.

Pelly was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1925.

Pelly was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 15 June, 1934.
