Captain Walter Carey, C.B.E.(m), R.N., Retired (6 February, 1862 – 14 January, 1932) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Colonel R. Carey of London.
Carey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 27 July, 1884.
Carey was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1897.
On 8 September, 1902 he was found unfit for further sea service.
Carey was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain on 6 February, 1908.
In the Great War, Carey worked as a W/T Censor at Land's End from 1 August 1914 to 13 July, 1915. He then went to Crystal Palace as Provost Marshal [?] before being appointed in command of R.N. Depot, Crystal Palace on 1 July, 1918.
