Admiral Robert Nesham Bax, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (15 November, 1875 – 21 September, 1969) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Early Life & Career
Bax was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 14 January, 1896.[1]
Bax was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1905.[2]
On 1 January, 1913, Bax was promoted to the rank of Captain.[3]
He was appointed to command the battleship Prince of Wales on 18 November, 1913.[4]
Bax married Halinor Marjorie Parke on 25 May, 1914.[5]
Great War
He was appointed to command of the new battleship Lord Nelson in June, 1916.[6]
He was appointed an Additional Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 1 January, 1918.[7]
Post-War
Bax was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 24 March, 1923, in place of James Ley, promoted to Vice-Admiral.[8] He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 22 February, 1928, vice Rudolf Bentinck, and placed on the Retired List on 23 February, as he had not hoisted his flag at sea.[9]
On 12 October, 1932 Bax was promoted to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List.[10]
