Commander Anthony Gordon Cunard, (19 October, 1893 – 6 March, 1950) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Gordon Cunard, Esq., later to be Gordon Cunard, Fourth Baronet.
Cunard first served in St. Vincent from 15 May 1911 to 15 January, 1912. He then spent exactly on year in the battleship Cornwallis and then one in the battlecruiser New Zealand. After some coursework, he was appointed to Argyll, but on outbreak of war he was appointed to Maidstone for submarines.[1]
On 3 April, 1915 he was appointed to H 4.
Cunard was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1916. On 19 December he was appointed to J 5.[2]
He was cautioned to be more careful after C 19 damaged the entrance dock at Immingham.
Placed on the Retired List at his own request on 7 July, 1920.[3]
Cunard was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1924.[4]
Cunard was promoted to the rank of Commander on 19 October, 1933.
World War II
Reverted to Retired List as medically unfit on 19 January, 1946.[5]
