Rear-Admiral Cosmo Moray Graham, C.B. (13 February, 1887 – 5 November, 1946) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Graham was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1909.[1]
Great War
Graham was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1917.[2]
Graham was appointed in command of the destroyer Stag on 3 February, 1914.[3]
He was appointed in command of the destroyer Springbok on 11 April, 1917.[4]
On 27 September, 1919, Graham was appointed in command of the flotilla leader Valhalla.[5]
Graham was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1923.[6]
In mid-September 1924, Graham was lent to the Royal Air Force for a course in "Air Matters." This was followed by some unpaid time and then he was appointed to Furious as executive officer, vice Makeig-Jones.[7]
Graham was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1930.[8]
In mid-June, 1933, Graham was loaned to the New Zealand Government for three years. Upon his return, he was appointed to President, additional, as Deputy D.N.A.D. vice Harris.[9]
World War II
On 24 February, 1939, Graham was appointed as Senior Naval Officer, Persian Gulf vice Allan Poland. Presently, he was also placed in command of H.M.S. Shoreham.[10]
Graham was promoted to the rank of Commodore, Second Class on 31 October, 1940.[11]
Graham was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 15 January, 1941. He continued in his role in the Persian Gulf until being appointed to Lanka as Commodore Commanding, Burma Coast on 14 February, 1942. Later in 1942, after the fall of Burma to the Japanese, Graham returned to the U.K. to be Flag Officer in Charge, Humber in succession to R. V. Holt.[12]
