Commander Richard Edmund Hyde-Smith, (29 June, 1900 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Captain Edmund Hyde Smith, R.N. passed out of the Training Establishment in May 1917 and was appointed to the battleship Revenge. On 20 March, 1919 he was appointed to the battleship Iron Duke.[1]
Hyde-Smith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1921.[2]
Hyde-Smith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1929.[3]
Hyde-Smith was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1936.[4]
World War II
Suffering from syncopal attacks, Hyde-Smith was placed on the Retired List as medically unfit on 20 May, 1948.[5]
