Commander (retired) Ronald Adair Trevor, R.N. (7 March, 1889 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Aldershot, Trevor ranked 49th in merit of sixty cadets accepted in the May 1904 intake term at H.M.S. Britannia.[1]
He spent two and a half years in his first ship, the battleship Albemarle, and then a year in the battleship Cornwallis. He would serve in the destroyer Zephyr in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1909.
In April-July 1910 he underwent submarine instruction at H.M.S. Mercury. He then served in B 6 from 1 August 1910 to 25 July, 1911.
Trevor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 October, 1911 as he continued to serve in submarines attached to Arrogant, Forth, Dolphin and Maidstone until 5 March 1914. Sadly, the exact submarines are not mentioned in his service record.
He served in E 10 from the outbreak of war through 15 January, 1915 and then he was appointed in command of B 1 for seven months, and then in command of C 10 from 6 August 1915 until 30 October 1916.
Trevor was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 October, 1919.
Trevor was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 7 March, 1932.
World War II
In August 1939, with the Intelligence Office in Singapore. By June 1940 he was in Liverpool doing convoy-related work.
