Admiral Sir Harry H. Rawson.

Admiral SIR Harry Holdsworth Rawson, G.C.B., G.C.M.G., Royal Navy (5 November, 1843 – 3 November, 1910) was an officer of the Royal Navy. From 1902 to 1909 he served as Governor of the Australian state of New South Wales.

Life & Career

In 1862, Rawson was wounded in "a gallant action against the rebels at Fungwha."

Rawson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 10 May, 1863.

Rawson was promoted to the rank of Commander from the Royal Yacht on 7 September, 1871.[1]

In 1871, Rawson was awarded the Royal Humane Society's Silver Medal for saving life from drowning.[2]

He was appointed command of the battleship Benbow on 4 October, 1889.[3]

Rawson was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to the Queen dated 2 August, 1890, vice Fisher.[4]

Flag Rank

Rawson was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 14 February, 1892, vice Erskine.[5]
