Vice-Admiral (retired) William Harvey Pigott, R.N. (8 March, 1848 – 1 September, 1924)[1] served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Pigott was the only son of George Grenville Wandisford Pigott of Doddershall Park, near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.
He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 December, 1872.
He was promoted to the rank of Commander, with effect from 11 July, 1882, however he served as a Lieutenant in Monarch at the Bombardment of Alexandria, 11 July 1882, and during the Egyptian War, being awarded the 4th Class of the Turkish Order of Osmanieh for his services. [2]
Appointed in command of Cruiser from 14 August, 1887 to 31 December, 1889.
Pigott was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1889.
Pigott was placed on the Retired List on 8 March, 1903 and promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral (retired) on 6 August, 1903 and to the rank of Vice-Admiral (retired) on 16 February, 1907.
