Service
In early 1913, operating with Third Fleet. In July, ordered to Pembroke Dock.[8]
In 1920, Terrible replaced Hindostan, 80, as Fisgard III, part of the establishment at Portsmouth for training engine room artficers apprentices.
Torpedoes
In October 1898, the ship became one of the first in the Royal Navy to receive torpedoes fitted for gyroscopes, drawn from the Portsmouth Depot. Though there were three torpedoes, only two gyros were initially supplied:[9]
- two 18-in Mark IV torpedoes, H.B. type
- one 14-in Mark IX torpedo, S.L. type
