H.M.S. Sturgeon was one of forty-two "A" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy — a "27 knotter".
She was broken up before the war.

Lieutenant James Rose Price Hawksley was found at fault for grounding Sturgeon on 29 October, 1898.[7]
