Admiral SIR Harry Holdsworth Rawson, G.C.B., G.C.M.G., Royal Navy (5 November, 1843 – 3 November, 1910) was an officer of the Royal Navy. From 1902 to 1909 he served as Governor of the Australian state of New South Wales.
Life & Career
Rawson was promoted to the rank of Commander from the Royal Yacht on 7 September, 1871.[1]
He was appointed command of the battleship Benbow on 4 October, 1889.[2]
Rawson was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to the Queen dated 2 August, 1890, vice Fisher.[3]

Rawson was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 14 February, 1892, vice Erskine.[4]
In recognition of his services in Benin he was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Second Class, or Knight Commander, in the Military Division of the Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 25 May, 1897.[5]
Rawson was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 19 March, 1898, vice Adeane.[6] He was promoted to the rank of Admiral dated 12 August, 1903, vice Buckle.[7]
On 18 September, 1905, his own son, Harry Christopher Shaw Rawson was appointed to work as his Aide-de-Camp, at Half-Pay.[8]
In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 22 February, 1870, Rawson was placed on the Retired List on 5 November, 1908.[9]
