Vice-Admiral James Lacon Hammet, C.V.O., Royal Navy (15 May, 1848 – 15 February, 1905) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Hammet was promoted to the rank of Commander on 23 June, 1880.[1]
Hammet was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1 January, 1886, at the relatively young age of thirty-seven.[2] On 15 December, 1890, he was appointed in command of the troop ship Tamar.[3]
On 1 January, 1900, Hammet was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral.[4] He served as one of the three umpires for the 1901 naval manœuvres.[5]
On the occasion of the King's visit to Malta Hammet was appointed a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) on 21 April, 1903.[6]
Hammet was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 1 January, 1905.[7]
