Admiral Edmund Frederick Jeffreys, C.V.O., Royal Navy (1 October, 1846 – 19 March, 1925) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Early Life & Career
Jeffreys was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with a seniority of 29 April, 1867, delivering the highest marks in navigation and pilotage for the year, granting him the Beaufort Testimonial for 1868.[1]
Jeffreys was promoted to the rank of Commander on 3 February, 1879.[2]
Jeffreys was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1885.[3]
Jeffreys was appointed in command of the Hecla on 6 November, 1888.[4]
He was appointed in command of the battleship Hood on 1 June, 1893.
On the occasion of the King's visit to Ireland Jeffreys was appointed a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) on 11 August, 1903.[5]
He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 1 September, 1904, vice Harris.[6]
Jeffreys was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 12 May, 1908, vice Bickford.[7] In accordance with the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, he was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 18 May.[8]
