Robert Cecil Hamilton

Vice-Admiral, retired Robert Cecil Hamilton (31 January, 1882 – 31 July, 1947) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.

Life & Career

Hamilton was promoted to Lieutenant on 31 July, 1901.

He married Edith Maud Paley on 30 May, 1911.

Hamilton was promoted to Commander on 30 June, 1913.

Hamilton was appointed to Agincourt as torpedo officer on in August, 1914. He was to remain in her a considerable time, becoming her executive officer on 7 January, 1917.

Post-war

Hamilton was promoted to Captain on 31 December, 1918.

Hamilton was appointed in command of Agincourt on 19 February, 1919 vice Mawbey.

He was appointed in command of Conqueror in June 1921.

He served as captain of Centurion from July 1928 to November 1929.

Hamilton was promoted to Rear-Admiral on 3 April, 1930 and was placed on the Retired List the next day.

Hamilton was promoted to Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 19 July, 1935. He died on 31 July, 1947
