Robert Cecil Hamilton
Vice-Admiral, retired Robert Cecil Hamilton (31 January, 1882 – 31 July, 1947) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the First World War.
Life & Career
Hamilton was promoted to Lieutenant on 31 July, 1901.[1]
He married Edith Maud Paley on 30 May, 1911.[2]
Hamilton was promoted to Commander on 30 June, 1913.[3]
Hamilton was appointed to Agincourt as torpedo officer on in August, 1914. He was to remain in her a considerable time, becoming her executive officer on 7 January, 1917.[4]
Post-war
Hamilton was promoted to Captain on 31 December, 1918.[5]
Hamilton was appointed in command of Agincourt on 19 February, 1919 vice Mawbey.[6][7]
He was appointed in command of Conqueror in June 1921.
He served as captain of Centurion from July 1928 to November 1929.
Hamilton was promoted to Rear-Admiral on 3 April, 1930 and was placed on the Retired List the next day.[8]
Hamilton was promoted to Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 19 July, 1935. He died on 31 July, 1947[9]
