H.M.S. Tarpon was one of sixty-two "R" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1916-17.

Service

In May, 1917, Tarpon was assigned to the Thirteenth Destroyer Flotilla.[8] She suffered a prolonged disappearance from the Navy List from August 1917 until March, 1918 when she was placed in the new Twentieth Destroyer Flotilla operating out of the Humber.[9]

She was re-commissioned on 1 February, 1920, tender to Vernon.[10]

Completed to Special Complement on 14 September, 1923.[11]

Following an earlier round of a flotilla leader and seventeen destroyers, Tarpon was named as one of an additional fifteen destroyers to be scrapped in the fiscal year starting 1 April, 1926.[12]
